“For the Community, By the Community”
March 15, 2024 – Mark your calendars! The Community of Wiarton is excited to announce a NEW Event to take place on the Civic Holiday Weekend in Wiarton’s Bluewater Park located on the beautiful shores of Colpoy’s Bay.
With the annual Wiarton Rotary Village Fair having been cancelled after 82+ years, local Service Clubs and Community Organizations have come together to create: “Wiarton Homecoming Weekend”
This new event with activities for all ages will take place on the Saturday and Sunday of the Civic Holiday Weekend (August 3-4, 2024.)
Planning is well underway with many local Community Organizations set to participate.
To date, the following events/activities are confirmed:
-Tournaments: Baseball, Pickleball, Horseshoes and Corn Hole
-Market Vendors: 30-40
-Display Booths: 15+ Community Organizations
-Classic Car Show: Saturday
-Demonstrations: Both days
-Food Booth: Both days
-Pie Booth: Both days
-Pig Roast: Saturday evening
-Pancake Breakfast: Sunday morning
-Beer Garden: To be hosted in conjunction with a Saturday night concert
-Kids Zone: Free activities for children on Sunday afternoon
-Musical Entertainment: Concert (Pop/Rock) in the new Band Shell on Saturday night; Classical Music on Sunday afternoon
-Games: For all ages
-AND…, there are several other events and activities in process.
Local Non-profit Organizations and Charities are being provided an opportunity to showcase their work in the community with information displays. People interested in learning more about how they can contribute to the community are encouraged to speak with these groups to ask about membership or volunteer opportunities.
The Organizing Committee continues to plan for this first of what is expected to become an annual Wiarton Homecoming Weekend event.
