LION’S HEAD, March 10, 2024 – The community of Lion’s Head came alive again this past weekend as the annual Broadfoot / Lemcke Memorial Hockey Tournament hit the ice again at Lion’s Head Arena. From Friday through Sunday, twelve teams battled it out across three divisions, showcasing thrilling displays of skill, determination, and sportsmanship.

The tournament culminated in a celebration of hockey and community spirit, with numerous standout performances and memorable moments. While every team displayed commendable effort, there were five exceptional performances which were honored with coveted trophies:

-EPH Division Trophy: The Zamboni Drivers

-Top Goalie Trophy: Gotlin Burt

-Walsh Garage Division Trophy: Bridges

-Fair Play Trophy: Liverances

-Rydall Contracting Division Trophy: Dump and Chase

Adding to the festivities, a lively homecoming dance extended well into the wee hours, featuring the tunes of Mike, our favorite disc jockey. Lions members were out in full force, serving up refreshments and fostering the vibrant community atmosphere that has become synonymous with the tournament.

The success of the event would not have been possible without the generous support of the local business community. The Ferndale, Lion’s Head, and District Lions Club extend their heartfelt thanks to the seventy sponsors who contributed prizes and trophies, ensuring that the tournament remains a cherished annual tradition.
