The Royal Canadian Legion supports Youth Education by sponsoring annual literacy, poems and poster contests at provincial schools to help promote Remembrance Day and honouring our military heritage. On Friday March 6 at Bruce Peninsula District School (BPDS) the contestants got together to share their efforts of writing essays, poems, and drawing posters with the judges panel. Several members of Legion Branch 202 attended and helped out with the event.

Please join us at the Lion’s Head Legion on Friday April 17 for a free movie which is West Side Story. Doors open at 1:00pm, movie starts at 1:30pm. We will provide tea, coffee and snacks. This event is provided in partnership with the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula’s Senior Active Living Centre (SALC) funding with support from the Government of Ontario.
This month we are holding two Lunch and Learn events. See Let’s Talk Lunch & Learn article on page 18 for more details.
Just a reminder about our weekly Tai Chi classes are Fridays, 9:30-10:30am. The classes are open to everyone so if you’re interested please come out a few minutes early, and bring a dry pair of shoes with you. The focus of the moves are to improve balance, stretch and of course, to have fun. This is not a “hot” workout so casual wear is fine.
Join us on Mondays and Thursdays (Except the first Thursday of the month) for a fun round of darts. Doors open at 12:30pm, play begins at 1:00pm. It costs $3 to play. Saturday April 4th we play “darts for meat” where you play for a chance to bring home a prize cut. Entry is $4.00 plus $1 per game (maximum $10 depending on your skill/luck).
