Have you ever had an inclination to try your hand at stained glass or painting with acrylics? If you have then there is a perfect opportunity to give it a try! Unleash your creative self with artist guided, fun events being held at Summer House Park during the month of June.
To get your creative juices flowing, join Carol from Art from the Heart Studio on Saturday, June 1st where you will learn layering techniques and pay close attention to detail to bring nature onto your 8” x 10” canvas by choosing a fall or spring themed “Birches” acrylic painting.
On Sunday, June 2nd Jane Greenhouse and Sheila Peacock will guide you through an introduction to stained glass workshop, where you will make a small sun catcher to take home with you. The ladies will lead you through the process of choosing your pattern and glass, how to cut the glass, grind the edges, foil and solder the glass and pieces together before the final steps of cleaning and polishing your creation.
Then on Saturday, June 22nd you can choose to attend one or both workshops lead by Laura from Ghost Lake Studio. In the morning, a whimsical cardinal will be your inspiration for this acrylic on canvas workshop. Then in the afternoon you can learn how to paint and seal a howling wolf, deer or bear silhouette at sunset on a cedar shingle.
Delicious, homemade snacks will be provided during the workshops and if you’ve worked up a hunger, lunch is available in the Shoreline Café after each class.
Absolutely no experience is necessary, all supplies are provided for you and anyone and everyone is welcome!
