About 100 people came out to the first Rotary Pancake Breakfast of 2023, held at Rotary Hall on Sunday, May 21st. This was the first of four Pancake Breakfasts scheduled for 2023, with the remaining three taking place down at the Rotary Pavilion next to Lion’s Head Beach on holiday weekends in July, August and September. Rotary thanks all who came out, had a delicious breakfast and contributed towards our community fundraiser! Rotary also thanks local musicians Rod Layman and Gerry Gregory for their breakfast tunes, and all the volunteers who helped with preparing and serving breakfasts, making our first Pancake Breakfast of the season such a success!

Rotary continues to thank our generous corporate and individual sponsors for their contributions towards our Pancake Breakfasts! These include Russell and Abby Miners (Miners’ Maple Products), Trace MacKay and Steve Woeller (Terrapin Social Finance), Pat Boyle Concrete, Dr. Pat Duronio, Rick Paciej and Kathy Austin, Barbara Dirckx (RE/MAX Grey-Bruce Realty Inc.), Leroy Dirckx (Atlas World Real Estate Corp.), David Hosken, Howard James, Wilfred Laman (Lion’s Head Beach Motel), and Dr. Dave Thomson. Our Pancake Breakfast sponsors help us offset breakfast expenses, the costs of putting on these breakfasts, allowing Rotary to have more money to put towards our various local community projects.

Our next scheduled Rotary Pancake Breakfast will take place on the Canada Day weekend, on Sunday, July 2nd, from 9:00 to 11:30 AM at the Rotary Pavilion next to Lion’s Head Beach. Breakfasts include pancakes with real maple syrup, scrambled eggs, pork sausages and hash browns, as well as orange juice and coffee to drink, and cost $15.00 per adult ($7.00 for kids aged 12 years and under), with all profits going towards Rotary local community projects. We encourage you to bring your own plate and cutlery to help reduce waste from this breakfast event.

In addition to picnic table seating outside the Rotary Pavilion, there will be an option for breakfast pick-up for those wishing to take away their breakfast. We hope to see you at our next Rotary Pancake Breakfast!

Rotary helps out with Bruce Road 9 Clean-up

Photo: Rotary Club has adopted a section of Bruce County Road 9 to clean up at the annual clean-up event taking place on June 1st this year.

Rotary participates in the Ontario ‘Adopt a Highway’ program, helping out annually with trash clean-up along a 4-kilometer section of Bruce County Road 9 between Lion’s Head and Barrow Bay. Rotarians Captain Jerry Greig, John White, Tom and Cathryn Buckley, Tim Lang, Wendall Thomson and Rob Hiscott helped out with the road clean-up on the morning of Thursday, June 1st. It was a bright, sunny day and we were pleasantly surprised that there was not a large amount of trash to pick up along the shoulders and gullies of the roadway, attesting to the pride local residents have for Northern Bruce, doing their part to help keep it clean!
