The Tobermory Health Services Auxiliary (THSA) extends its sincerest congratulations to Erica Thompson, this year’s recipient of the THSA Scholarship for Health Care Studies. Erica was presented with a $2,000 cheque by Patty Kelly, Chair of the THSA Scholarship Committee at the Bruce Peninsula Secondary School Graduation Ceremony on June 25, 2026. Erica has been accepted into the Practical Nursing program at Georgian College’s Owen Sound Campus.
Erica was selected as the recipient of this year’s scholarship based on an outstanding application that demonstrated her commitment to a career in health care and her strong record of achievement. Through her high school experiences, volunteer work, employment, and community involvement, Erica has developed many of the qualities essential to a successful nursing career, including empathy, resilience, teamwork, strong communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Erica hopes to use her education and experience to give back to the community that has supported her throughout her life. She also hopes to inspire younger students who are interested in health care careers by demonstrating that it is possible to pursue their professional goals while remaining connected to—and giving back to—their hometown community.
The Tobermory Health Services Auxiliary is proud to support Erica’s educational journey and wishes her every success in her studies and future career. We look forward to seeing the positive impact she will make in the health care profession.
