St. Edmund’s Church, located at the Gap at the end of Highway 6 in Tobermory, is hosting their annual Community Yard Sale on Saturday, July 18, from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
We began receiving and sorting community donations on Monday, and many generous and interesting items have already arrived. Donations may be dropped off at the church until Friday, July 17, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
The silent auction is always a favourite and will close at 11:45 a.m. Please plan to stay nearby so you can place your final bid before it ends. Two unusual items so far for the silent auction items are an Allen Smutylo picture and an electric smokehouse.
Hamburgers and sausages on buns will be available, by donation, from 11:00 a.m. to noon.
The money raised from this year’s sale will be donated to the Tobermory Community Outreach Programme and the Summer in the Spirit programme.
The Tobermory Community Outreach Programme is a non-profit committee organized by Tobermory’s local churches in partnership with other community groups. The programme serves the area from Tobermory to Miller Lake. It helps people in need by offering emergency assistance, including financial support, information about other programs, transportation to and from appointments, and guidance during difficult situations. This month, they were able to offer help after the fire to residents of the Bradley Davis Apartments. Referrals come through the churches in Tobermory, and funds are distributed confidentially in a way that preserves each recipient’s dignity.
Summer in the Spirit is a joint initiative of the Church of St. Edmund’s and Tobermory United Church. Now in its fourth year, the programme runs for seven weeks and offers an evening event once a week. These evenings are for everyone to nourish hearts and minds, celebrate this beautiful place, nurture the spirit, and meet neighbours.
