After our elections in April, we are pleased to welcome the new members of our executive committee who are stepping into their roles to complete the existing term at Branch 290. Daryl Cowell is your new president, Dan Mackey is your new 1st Vice President, Mike Haythorne is your new 2nd Vice President and Deb Thornton is your new Secretary. We wish them all the best in their new roles!
Summer is almost here, and with it, our summer hours. Starting Thursday May 2nd the branch will resume its regular hours of operation. Thursday through Saturday the branch will be open from 3pm to 9pm with extended hours on the nights where we have a DJ and dancing.
Speaking of Saturday nights, we are currently looking for additional people to staff the dances. We need a bartender, door and floor help. All will need to have their Smart Serve and will be compensated for their time. Please reach out to Judy Hurst at runjude@gmail.com for details.
Darts for fun continue through the summer on Thursday nights at 7:30. Meat Draws will continue on Saturdays at 4:30pm. Trivia is on Friday May 10th at 7pm.
Sue Ball and Don Moors from Arviat, who are members at our branch, have donated Inuit Wall Hangings for silent auction at the branch. They will be on display and available for bidding at the legion during the meat draws.
We are still taking donations to pay for our new roof that will need to be replaced this summer. Donations can be made at the branch during opening hours or online at donate@tobermorylegion.org and simply leave a note that it is for the roof fund.
