Next General Meeting Moved to March 12th, 3pm

Submitted by Judy Hurst

It is my sad duty to announce that as of our executive meeting on February 13th, Sean Hurst has resigned his position as president of the branch in Tobermory effective immediately, to enable him to focus on caring for an elderly parent in declining health. We wish him all the best as he goes through this difficult phase of life.

Following his resignation, 1st Vice President Neil Golden, 2nd Vice President Brad Inglis, Secretary Elaine Sinha, and Sgt At Arms Chris McCoy also tendered their resignations effective immediately.

Without a secretary to take minutes we were unable to have a general meeting, so all business has been put on hold until we can hold elections for the vacated seats. We have temporary replacements so that we can hold a meeting in March and hold off on an election until April when there will be more members in town and able to attend the meeting for a proper vote.

As our branch by-laws require an election every 2 years on the odd year, this emergency election will be for persons to complete the existing term and not for the standard 2 year term.

If you know of a legion member who you think may be a suitable fit to fill one of these positions, we ask that you reach out me as Past President or one of the other members of the executive, to go over the duties of each position, or simply bring your questions to the March meeting where there will be much to discuss.

The general meeting will be at 3pm on Tuesday March 12th with no Executive meeting. There is business to discuss and a lot of questions on next steps, so we would strongly encourage everyone to come out to the meeting.

All the regular branch events will continue on as usual, with Darts on Thursdays at 7:30pm, the meat draw on Saturdays at 4:30pm and every Monday the Ladies Auxiliary hosts Bingo at the Community Centre at 1pm.
