Rotary Co-hosts Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

On Tuesday, February 21st at Rotary Hall in Lion’s Head, Christ Church Anglican and the Rotary Club partnered to host a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. This was a very successful fundraising event with 125 people attending, and free will donations going towards Golden Dawn Seniors Home in Lion’s Head.

Local musicians Rod Layman, Dominik Franken, Dan Corcoran, David Smallwood and Gerry Gregory provided musical entertainment at Rotary Hall for the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper.

Local musicians provided musical entertainment while those attending had a delicious supper of buttermilk pancakes with real maple syrup, breakfast sausages, apple crisp and ice cream, with apple juice, coffee and tea.

This is the first Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper hosted by Christ Church Anglican and Rotary in three years, and it was wonderful to see such a great turnout for this event!

Rotary Bars at Harbourside Inside Concerts

Rotary continued to co-sponsor ‘Harbourside Inside’ musical events at Rotary Hall, with the second of three events taking place on Friday, February 24th (more details on this past event in the next issue of Bruce Peninsula Press). The third and final ‘Harbourside Inside’ event will take place on Friday, March 31st from 7-9 PM with doors opening at 6:30 PM.

These concert events feature performances by local musicians from Tobermory, Lion’s Head and around the Bruce Peninsula, each with a bar tended by Rotarians. The entrance fee is by donation (same as the summer ‘Harbourside’ events held here in Lion’s Head at the stage between the beach and marina).

The purpose of these three musical events is to showcase local musicians and provide a great opportunity for small winter social gatherings. Rotarian Doug Embleton played an initial set of piano music for the supper crowd.
