These past few weeks have been an extremely busy time for the wonderful members of the Ladies’ Auxiliary. Feeding Swans and Lions, plus numerous support events, their month ended with the hosting of the Ladies’ Auxiliary Zone C-4 Convention.
Covering all the Branches in Grey Bruce, this year the Convention was held in Lion’s Head. Opening with a Main Street parade to the War Memorial, then cumulating in the Annual Meeting at the Rotary Hall with election of Zone C-4 Officers.

So few of the readers of The Press, realize the dedication and hard work performed by this indomitable group of Ladies. Now is the time for the members of the Legion and the general public to not only support the Auxiliary but help to recruit new members.
The Ladies’ Auxiliary support the community with donations to the school programs, the hospitals, the Food Bank and the Golden Dawn on a regular basis.
Out of deference to the ladies, we will not publish the average age of the current members, but it is “way up there”. Please strike out and join!!!
Similarly to the Ladies Auxiliary, President Richard Smith and 2nd Vice President Nancy Alleyne attended the Legion C-4 Convention held in North Bay. The highlight of this Convention was the introduction to Special Support dogs for Veterans suffering from PTSD and/or physical disabilities. These dogs cost $40,000.00 each to train. Not only do they support the Veterans, but are big enough to help the Veteran to their feet if they fall!
Now we are into the Summer Season. Corn Hole continues at the Legion on Thursdays each week, commencing at 1.00 p.m. Additional events will be organized through the summer, including the ever popular Fish Fry. Details will be forthcoming.
