On Sunday, May 22nd, we had our first Rotary Pancake Breakfast of 2022, the first such breakfast since September, 2019. Over 130 people came to Rotary Hall for this fundraising event put on by Rotarians and Friends of Rotary – good food, great musical entertainment on stage, an enjoyable time together for family and friends – a successful Rotary fundraiser to raise funds for community projects!

Our sincere thanks to our corporate sponsors – Miners’ Maple Products (providing maple syrup for the pancakes) and Lion’s Head Beach Motel (providing the coffee) for their continuing support for our Rotary Pancake Breakfasts! Rotary thanks everyone who came out and supported our first Pancake Breakfast event of 2022!

Our next planned Pancake Breakfast is scheduled to occur over the Canada Day long weekend at the beginning of July, and will take place at the Rotary Pavilion down by Lion’s Head Beach – more details on this event will appear in the next issue of Bruce Peninsula Press as well as on our Rotary facebook page!

Rotary Bars in May

Rotarians were also busy tending bars for two recent community events to help raise funds for community projects. There was a Rotary bar held at Rotary Hall for the Stephen Woeller ‘try it up here’ record release party on Friday, May 13th, and a second Rotary bar held at Lion’s Head Arena for the ‘Lighthouse Fundraiser’ Concert Venue on Saturday, May 21st.

Profits from these Rotary bars are returned to the community through different projects and initiatives such as raising funds for our local Lion’s Head Lighthouse. Rotary also donates empty cans and bottles from our bar events to the local Lion’s Head ‘bottle deposit fund’ to return to the community.

“End Polio Now” Tulip Fundraiser

There’s still time to order tulip bulbs through Rotary District 6330’s “End Polio Now” Tulip fundraiser campaign. For $25, you can buy a box of 25 tulip bulbs which will sprout and bloom beautiful tulips for next year! This is our second year participating in Rotary District’s fundraiser, and as seen in the photo the tulips are beautiful! Boxes of bulbs should be ready for delivery/pick-up by early fall, in time for planting for next year!

An early morning photo of Rotary tulips in bloom from the garden of Rotarian Catherine Henderson.

You can order your box or boxes of tulip bulbs by sending an e-transfer to our e-mail address: nbprotary@gmail.com and please include a phone number and contact info in the message portion of the e-transfer so we can contact you, or send a separate e-mail with that information. You can also send a cheque or money order to our mailing address: Rotary Club of NBP, PO Box 305, Lion’s Head ON, N0H 1W0. Any Rotarian can take your order for tulip bulbs, or you can call Catherine Henderson at 519-793-6006 to make other arrangements.

Thanks for supporting this worthwhile project and helping to eradicate polio worldwide.
