In the past, the Tobermory Food Bank has had reduced days and times during the months of July and August when the demand declines. We know currently that it is not “business as usual” on many fronts. With so many uncertainties that are now so much a part of life, we want to ensure the certainty of Food Security is available for those who may need to access the Food Bank through the summer months. This summer the Food Bank will be open every Tuesday between 1-3 p.m. at the Meeting Place. There is still a protocol in place that ensures safe measures for clients and volunteers.

The Tobermory Food Bank Committee is very grateful of the support of individuals and organizations in our community and beyond. The ongoing donations ensure that the Food Bank will be there for those most in need in our community now and in the uncertain months ahead. Every week donations come from e-transfers, cheques and monies donated at Peacock’s Foodland. Bruce Power has been outstanding in its support not only of the Tobermory Food Bank but all Food Banks in Bruce County. They donate monies and hand sanitizer and masks to Food Banks. Also, the United Way has been a conduit of assistance as well with Habitat for Humanity delivering toilet tissue to Lion’s Head and Tobermory Food Bank every week.

Donations keep coming from folks who are making masks and only asking for a donation to the Food Bank in return. Also, many other initiatives in the community result in donations as well. With the amazing amount of donations, we have been able to keep our shelves stocked. We are also grateful to Rick and staff at Peacock’s for their efforts to fill our orders.

Again, thank you to all who have made donations and if you are considering making a donation there are several ways to do it. You can send an e-transfer to tobermoryfoodbank@gmail.com and then send a separate e-mail with mailing address for tax receipt. Or you can mail a cheque payable to the Tobermory Food Bank in care of Jennifer Dewey at 211 Eagle Rd. Tobermory N0H 2R0. And of course, you can make a donation to the Tobermory Food Bank account at Peacock’s.

If you have any questions re donations or require any information, please contact Linda at 519-596-2333.
