Many local residents and visitors came to admire the quilts, shop in the boutique and make generous donations at the annual Tea Time Quilters Quilt Show on the Civic Holiday weekend. Thanks to your support, all proceeds from the quilt show will be donated to the Lion’s Head Hospital Auxiliary to help support our local hospital.
The show would not be possible without the support from all the quilters who entered their beautiful quilts. We would like to offer a special thanks to the quilters from Tobermory who contributed many of their community quilts in support of fundraising for the Lion’s Head Hospital Auxiliary.
Visitors were invited to vote for their favourite quilt in four different categories.
Viewer’s Choice for large quilts was Afternoon Delight by Lucy Weir. This amazing quilt was a block of the month appliqué and patchwork. Lucy machine quilted it by using the ruler work quilting method.
Viewer’s Choice for medium quilts was Infinity by Catherine Petch. She used bright, vibrant colours to create this quilt using the technique called foundation paper piecing which has become her favourite quilting method.
Viewer’s Choice for small quilts was The Gathering by Mary Swanton. The background of this quilt was machine quilted before Mary patiently spent hours hand appliquéing the colourful quail using batik fabric
Viewer’s Choice for wall hanging quilts was Cheep Sunglasses by Kathy Wilson. This colourful appliqued wall hanging, featuring four whimsical chicks wearing stylish sunglasses will be a cheerful addition to Kathy’s son’s optometrist’s office.
