Hundreds of residents and visitors gathered in Tobermory on Canada Day to celebrate with live music, family activities and community events as Northern Bruce Peninsula welcomed one of its busiest weekends of the summer tourism season.
The festivities, centred around the Tobermory Community Centre and Little Tub Harbour, featured children’s activities, live entertainment and local organizations, drawing families together to mark Canada’s 159th birthday. Organizers said the annual celebration showcases the community spirit that defines Tobermory while providing an opportunity for residents and visitors to celebrate the holiday together.
The Tobermory Canada Day Marketplace took place along Little Tub Harbour, where local vendors welcomed visitors throughout the day. At the community centre, children enjoyed complimentary Canada Day cupcakes, colouring activities, crafts and handheld Canadian flags. Craft stations featured Canadian-themed images, including beavers, maple leaves and other patriotic symbols.
Tattoo artist Josh Williams and his family from Electric Woodpecker offered complimentary airbrush tattoos with a variety of Canada-themed designs and colours. Children eagerly added their names to the waiting list before gathering nearby to watch the artwork take shape as they waited for their turn.
Live music filled the waterfront throughout the afternoon as Marty Oblak and Brian Taylor performed for the crowd at Little Tub Harbour. Visitors joined together to sing O Canada, smiling and waving Canadian flags in a display of community pride.
Other Canada Day celebrations were also held in Pike Bay and Lion’s Head over the days surrounding the holiday.
