New VP Stéphanie Cantin Joins BPDS/St Eds for 2026/27 School Year

Media Release

Next school year will bring another change in administration at both of our Peninsula schools, as current Vice Principal Pam Mielhausen is retiring. Pam has dedicated 30 years to education, primarily serving students across Bruce County. Interestingly, her first long-term occasional teaching position in 1996 was at St. Edmunds Public School in Tobermory when it had students from JK–Grade 6, under Principal Jim Oliver.

She later moved to Waterloo, where she taught for nine years before returning to the area in an administrative role. Over the past 21 years as a Vice Principal and Principal, Pam has served at Port Elgin-Saugeen Central, Arran-Tara Elementary, and École Hepworth Central Public School, before “coming home” to Bruce Peninsula District School (BPDS) and St. Edmunds Public School (St Eds). She has greatly enjoyed this past year, reconnecting with students, staff, and members of the community.

Pam leaves her role in excellent hands, as Stéphanie Cantin joins the school as an experienced educator from the MonAvenir Catholic School Board. Ms. Cantin has taught at both the elementary and secondary divisions, served as a Program Coordinator for OYAP and Cooperative Education, and most recently worked as a Vice Principal.

Having purchased property on the Bruce Peninsula last year, Ms. Cantin has developed a deep appreciation for the area and is excited to live and work here full-time. Please join us in welcoming Ms. Cantin, who will be joining Mrs. Gilbert in leading the school into the next chapter.
