Over 1,200 persons came out on the first day of the 2026 Lion’s Head Farmers’ Market season on May 16, 2026. The highly anticipated Saturday morning event was well attended by the local community, but also by vacationers renting cottages for the long weekend. Organizer Charlene Jordan describes the market as “hopping”. Even a slight rain for a short time did nothing to dampen the lively spirit of the market.

With 24 full-time vendors and many of the 25 occasional vendors, including three first-time vendors showcasing their food and artisan products, there was lots to see and buy.

Full-time residents and seasonals came out to stock up on favorites and to check out the new offerings. They say they come early to ‘be sure” to get their fresh produce. The visitors checked out the wide array of quality local goods and enjoyed experiencing a slice of village life.

Fresh gourmet grilled sandwiches and homemade treats were popular breakfast/brunch choices as community members socialized and caught up with local news.

The Table Share program kicks off in June, with five startup homestead farms sharing tables to sell their seasonal produce. Jordan sees this as a great opportunity for small scale producers to sell their products and build a clientele at the market, and at the same time offering customers more seasonal produce throughout the summer. This program is open to full-time vendors or occasional vendors.

The Market is always happy to welcome farms and food producers from the region, either through the Table Share program or on a full-time or occasional basis. Interested vendors are invited to contact Charlene Jordan for more information at lionsheadfm@hotmail.com

The “Take a bag, Leave a bag” initiative proved to be quite popular. Customers can pick up a free reusable bag for their purchases. Feel free to drop off clean empty reusable bags, or help yourself to a bag or two when shopping. The bags are located in a box at the front entrance of the Market.

The Canadiana Muskoka Chair Lounge returned – a great space to sit, relax, enjoy refreshments and listen to music. This year the lounge is being sponsored by Mark McDade – Chestnut Park Real Estate Limited, Brokerage.

The ever popular Market Band, with their extensive repertoire of music, will be entertaining patrons on Saturday mornings. Be sure to take some time to relax and listen to the amazing performances by the local and guest musicians.

Look out for some special activities taking place at the market throughout the season; a free Spring Bicycle Tune-up is being offered on May 30, hosted by the Bruce Men’s Shed.

The Market will be open every Saturday from Victoria Day weekend to Thanksgiving weekend. The Market runs from 9 a.m. until noon (open until 1 p.m. on the long weekends). The Market is located at “the beach” in and next to the beach pavilion in Lion’s Head.
