Until October 12th, the Red Schoolhouse Gallery in Ferndale is open every Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 5pm.
Mary Campbell, one of 12 permanent member artists, describes herself as a curious painter. She is keen to experiment with watercolour, collage and texture to capture the landscapes of the Bruce Peninsula, featuring its fiery sunsets, turquoise waters, and stormy waves. Mary’s artwork has been showcased at The Durham Art Gallery, Owen Sound Artist Co-op, Bruce County Museum, Southampton Arts Gallery, Grey Gallery (Owen Sound), Back Alley Gallery (Hamilton) and the L.E. Shore Memorial Library in Thornbury and it has found its way into homes in Canada, the United States and Europe.
Guest artist, Ruth Maude (she/her), is an encaustic artist whose work is shaped by a deep connection to place—rooted in her summers on the Bruce Peninsula. Her semi-abstract paintings evoke sensory impressions of rocky shorelines, shifting skies, mirrored waters, and dappled light under trees. Based in Toronto, she is also the founder of All Things Encaustic, a widely read blog offering techniques and inspiration to artists worldwide. Ruth plays a leading role in the Canadian Encaustic Conference, held annually in Owen Sound, fostering connection and learning around this luminous medium.
