While growing up on the Bruce Peninsula, Beki Waples (nee Klages) grew a deep appreciation for the grit, creativity, and resilience of small-town creators. After growing up with several entrepreneur role models, Beki Waples was inspired to start her own entrepreneurial passion project. Now, she’s sharing stories of small-town entrepreneurs and creators with the world through her podcast Small Towns, Big Dreams, a show dedicated to highlighting entrepreneurs, creators, and changemakers from rural communities across Canada — including several from the Northern Bruce Peninsula.

Launched in October 2023, Small Towns, Big Dreams has quickly become a go-to listen for anyone who thrives listening to community spirit and hearing the stories behind small businesses. Hosted by Beki, who now lives in Saugeen Shores with her family, the podcast was born out of her love for storytelling and supporting local.

This podcast shines a light on local creators and shares their journeys — the wins, the challenges, and the story behind the incredible businesses these creators are building.

Northern Bruce Peninsula residents may recognize some familiar voices on the podcast, including:

• Tim Matheson and Camp Celtic (Episode 46),

• Brianna Hardman and InstaCake Cards (Episode 35),

• Hannah Greig and Naturally Well by Hannah (Episode 2 & 37),

• Kylin Taylor and Designs by Ray Kay (Episode 5), and

• Allan Gibbons and Trivia by Allan G (Episode 4).

These interviews highlight the unique character of Bruce County and the people who make it such a vibrant place to live and visit.

With 65+ episodes released, and new episodes being released weekly, the podcast features a mix of business owners, artists, wellness practitioners, and everyday people chasing their big dreams.
