Happenings at the Lion’s Head Legion Branch 202
Submitted by Sharron Colter
The Lion’s Head Legion Branch 202 held the yearly Country Roast Beef dinner on Tuesday July 9th with many happy and full community members attending. Don and I as coordinators wanted to ensure lots of roast beef for the attendees. We apologize for the skimpy roast beef servings last year as an oversight to the attendees. We wanted to do better and we did. Comments from the attendees have been very positive. It does take a lot of volunteers and time to put a successful dinner together.
There are many volunteers to thank for their hard work to make the dinner a success with lots of food and desserts. Thank you to Tyler Hayes of Riverside Farms, north of Ferndale on highway 6 for the 120 plus pounds of sirloin tip roasts that were served. The beef was tender and delicious. Tyler Hayes donated some of the beef to the Legion to support the dinner. The Beef store is open daily on highway 6 if you would like to buy peninsula beef.

Volunteers are now preparing for the Whitefish dinner on Tuesday August 13 at 5 – 7 p.m. Tickets can be obtained by calling Barb and Wayne Morningstar at 519-592-5846 or Sharron and Don at 519-793-3473. Tickets are $25 each.
The summer dinners are fundraisers to support the work of the legion in community outreach to the veterans and their families, community charities, maintenance of the Legion building and the monthly bills to keep the Legion open all year.
The Legion executive appreciates the support of the community by attending the dinners. The Lion’s Head Legion has no paid staff. The legion is open to the public with volunteer hours and work. If you would like to volunteer, call Don at 519-793-3473.
