Final preparations are underway for Santa’s early visit to Lion’s Head, with the Parade to be held on Saturday, December 3rd, beginning outside Bruce Peninsula District School at 1:00 PM. Floats and Parade participants should arrive at the School at 12:30 PM. At the end of the Parade, everyone will have a chance to meet Santa at Rotary Hall, where there will be hot chocolate and treats available, along with seasonal music. The Friends of the Library will also be at Rotary Hall handing out a book gift to each visiting child. Be sure to come out to greet Santa before he heads back to the North Pole for final preparations!
Birthday Event at Golden Dawn Seniors Home
For the month of November, Rotary has sponsored a birthday event for Golden Dawn residents with cards, cake and entertainment. Rotarian Doug Embleton was master of ceremonies at this recent event and played piano to entertain all the residents, including those celebrating birthdays this month! In the words of Rotarian Bob Spearing, ‘The party was loud and lively’!

Rotary Supports Golden Dawn Redecoration Project
Rotary is pleased to support the Redecoration Project currently being organized for the Golden Dawn Senior Citizens Home. A total of $1,235 was raised for this project by the silent auction held on October 15 at the Rotary Hall, in conjunction with the RPR concert. We want to thank everyone who purchased the beautiful pieces of art, and wish to express special thanks to the members of the Bruce Peninsula Society of Artists who generously donated the pieces for auction: Stuart Burgess, Ian Cochrane, Suzanne Dyke, Sue Dyment, Nicole Gamble, Julie Heinrichs, Brenda Kerton, Holly McLay, Anita Penman, Hart Richardson and Adriana Saba. Thank you for your support of this worthy cause and helping to brighten the living spaces of these beloved members of our community. If you were unable to attend and would like to support this project, donations are still welcome through the Rotary Club.

Fundraising Event for Lion’s Head Rotary Hall
On the afternoon of Sunday, December 11th, Rotary will present a fundraiser for improvements to Rotary Hall, to be held at the Hall. Musical entertainment will be presented by Half Way North and friends, food will be available from Mary’s The Booth, and Rotarians will tend the bar. Tickets will be $20 at the door, with doors opening at 4 PM and the show starting at 5 PM.
The Lion’s Head Rotary Hall was constructed in 1898 and over the course of well over a century has seen a wide range of community uses. Honourary Rotarian Jim Dilamarter previously prepared a history of the Rotary Hall which documented many of these uses including Eastnor Township Council meetings, Court sessions, training for the 160th Battalion during World War I, Eastnor Agricultural Society meetings (and meetings for many other groups and organizations including our Rotary Club for many decades), Church Sunday Schools, Christmas and other concerts, antique shows, blood donor & mass inoculation clinics, showers & weddings, special training sessions, theatrical productions, plus countless breakfasts, lunches, dinners and dances over time. Many renovations and improvements have been made over time, and this latest fundraiser will contribute towards the further improvement of Rotary Hall, in consultation with the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula.
Rotary Hall has served a vital role as a meeting place for this community for nearly 125 years, and we hope you can come out to support this important fundraiser to improve the Hall. From the event poster, ‘Let’s Jingle and Mingle’! Hope to see you there!
