Restaurant owners from Hepworth & Wiarton are donating 100% of proceeds from sales of Smile Cookies to Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation this spring.

Tim Hortons is proud to share that $23.3 million was raised through its 30th anniversary Smile Cookie campaign for nearly 700 local charities and community groups across Canada and the U.S.

“Tims® restaurant owners are proud members of the communities where they live and work, and for decades their passion for giving back has made the Smile Cookie campaign what it is today,” says Axel Schwan, president of Tim Hortons.

This year in Hepworth and Wiarton, local Tim Hortons restaurant owners Bill & Sarah Trude and guests helped raise $14,703 to support Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation. The Wiarton and Hepworth Tim Hortons Restaurants have made such a positive and lasting impact on local health care through this national fundraising campaign. That brings a total of $128,382 raised for Bruce Peninsula patient care through Smile Cookie over the last 27 years!

Wiarton & Hepworth Tim Hortons Owner, Bill Trude expressed his appreciation for the local success of this national campaign “As Tim Hortons franchisees in this community, my wife Sarah and I are proud to support the Bruce Peninsula Hospital Foundation because strong local healthcare is essential to the well-being and future of our community. Supporting the Foundation is our way of giving back to a community that has supported us over the years, while helping ensure the hospital can continue to invest in equipment, technology, and patient care for generations to come. For us, it’s about strengthening the place we work, and raise our families, and contributing to a healthier future for everyone in the Bruce Peninsula area”.

About Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation

Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation strives to provide opportunities for the community to engage in philanthropic activities which support outstanding health care in order to meet the health care needs of the people of the Bruce Peninsula. Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation supports the capital priority needs of Brightshores Health System – Lion’s Head Hospital, Wiarton Hospital and the regional needs of Brightshores Health System.

With the government only providing up to 10% of the required funding to keep our hospitals up-to-date with medical equipment, technology and facility upgrades, the balance must be raised by the communities whom our health care system serves.
