It was the first ever SOLD OUT Starlight 70s concert, August 23, held at the Whiskey Harbour home of Vickie van Dyke and Richard Smith. Featuring award-winning singer-songwriter Thomas Wade, popular duo Jorge & Kris, recording artist Ian Michael Townsend, percussionist Sylvain Defoy and local favourite Brant Grozelle, the evening of all-70s hits was a huge treat for all in attendance.
The live auction, with unique items donated by The Shops at 84 Main, Scott’s Home Hardware, Josie’s of Wiarton, Lyn Townsend Artwork and Richard’s Woodworks brought in almost $1,000.00 in itself. Special thanks to marquee sponsors Lianne Timbers-Sharp (realtor – Re/Max) and Leslie Morris (Elite Mortgage group) for their generous support.
“Everybody loves the music of the 70s,” explains Ms. van Dyke, “and we really wanted a fun theme night to raise funds for our local hospital. People were singing along, making requests and having a blast! It’s just so much fun when everyone knows every single song!”
A tradition in the making, Starlight 70s will be back again, open to helping all worthwhile causes on The Bruce!
