By the time this issue of the paper is released, the Lion’s Head Hospital Auxiliary (LHHA) Annual Yard Sale will be a memory. It is amazing the way, each and every year, the LHHA and the general public come together to raise funds for our local hospital. Every contribution you made and every dollar you spent goes towards purchasing equipment for our hospital. The Ontario Ministry of Health does not fund any equipment purchases, which is why our fundraising events are so vital to keeping health care local. To each and every person who donated, came by to peruse the goods and purchased great treasures, the LHHA thanks you on behalf of our community whether you are a seasonal, permanent, or transitional resident.

If you were unable to sort through all the books at the Yard Sale you will be pleased to know that the LHHA Used Bookstore will be extending its hours of operation for the summer. From July 9 until August 30 the bookstore will now be open on Wednesdays from 11:00am until 2:00pm as well as Saturdays from 11:00am until 2:00pm. We are located at Christ Church in Lion’s Head at the back of the church. We are very grateful for the generosity of Christ Church for allowing us to use this space. Make sure to come and check out the selection. It changes fairly often so, even if you’ve been before, well, you just never know what new treasures will have turned up. We have fiction as well as non-fiction and even selections for kids. Come browse, get in out of the heat and say hello when you’re there. We’ll be waiting.

We are also very pleased to announce the recipient of the LHHA Bursary for the graduating year of 2025. This bursary, of $500 is available to any student who, upon completion of high school, goes on to pursue studies in the healthcare field. This year the person awarded this bursary is Jakob Whittaker. Congratulations, Jakob.
