March 24, 2025: Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation marked another successful year for its Caring for Tomorrow Endowment Fund today, presenting a $49,500 contribution to Brightshores Health System for 2024/25.

“Annual contributions from the Endowment only happen because of supporters with a vision for better hospital care for everyone on the Peninsula,” said Foundation Chair, Kevin Walsh. “It’s great to see all these investments in the future of our hospitals pay off.”

Donations to the Caring for Tomorrow Fund are invested. The annual income earned supports the hospitals year after year. The Fund is comprised of a general endowment which contributes towards Brightshores’ highest priorities, plus Wiarton and Lion’s Head Funds which help meet needs identified at each hospital. In addition, six named funds have been established. Their individual contributions towards the total were as follows:

• General Endowment – $5,150

• Wiarton – $35,000

• Lion’s Head – $5,000

• Mar Women’s Institute – $950

• Sandra Claire Sears (Lion’s Head Nursing Education) – $1,850

• Super Dad’s Fund (Lion’s Head) – $650

• Ingleton Tozer (Lion’s Head) – $400

• George Reynolds (Wiarton) – $500

One new named endowment was added during the year with a generous gift from the Estate of Anne Turnbull.

Today’s $49,500 cheque will help replace seven beds between Lion’s Head and Wiarton hospitals. $1,850 of the total is available to assist nurses in Lion’s Head with continuing education and training.

“Brightshores is truly thankful for each and every donor that contributes to our health system,” said Beth Morris, Brightshores VP of Clinical Programs, Quality & Chief Nursing Executive. “Their support will have a continued impact on the care that Brightshores provides to our communities.”

A gift to the Endowment is something almost anyone can consider. Give now with cash or securities, or later, through your Will, RRIF plan or life insurance. Your legacy will help ensure future generations get the care they need, when they need it, close to home.
