Food Banks across Grey Bruce received a $4,000.00 grant recently through Community Foundation Grey Bruce. This gift was made possible from the Leflar Donor Advised Endowed Fund for food security.
Eva Leflar was a Grey County Girl, living her entire life in the Owen area. In her later employment years she worked as a Case Worker with the Children’s Aid Society of Owen Sound. “She often commented that if she were ever to have the means, she would do something to help kids in need.” This happened in 1990 when she set up her foundation.
Ms Leflar passed away in December 2012 and Community Foundation Grey Bruce has been trusted with the responsibility of managing her foundation. Her compassion for children, especially those with financial challenges and her desire to do something about it is an inspiration.
Today, we are able to help more children in food insecure homes because of her generous spirit.
