Lion’s Head and District Foodbank Board of Director members Bev Miller, Laura Owen and Darlene Myles (missing from photo Charlene Scharlach and Dennis McLay) all lend a hand in unpacking and shelving 1036.7 lbs of food and household items for the donated to the foodbank! Thank you to all the folks that came out to the annual Lion’s Head Farmers’ Market Christmas Market at Summer House Park on November 23rd and 24th and brought a donation for the food bank for admission into the market.

Our shelves are nicely stocked and ready for the winter season.

Hellyer’s Foodland “Pack The Cruiser” a Tremendous Success

On Saturday December 7, the OPP Auxiliary officers volunteered their time to participate in the “Pack the Cruiser” event in Lion’s Head. “This was one of the most successful Christmas Pack the Cruiser events to date! The generosity of our small community always amazes me”, stated volunteer Darlene Myles.

1,063.2 pounds of food was donated which reflected a dollar amount in excess of $1,500.00! Another $352.20 was received through cash donations. Our shelves are looking very full for the upcoming winter months. Our monthly hamper numbers are increasing steadily so these donations are greatly appreciated!

Special thanks to Kyle & Kara Hellyer and their staff for packing needed food items into bags for sale and to Aletha who started packing bags when the supply was getting down. We are so pleased to be able to partner with Hellyer’s Foodland again this Christmas!

Special thanks as well to the OPP Auxiliary Officers who so willingly assist us in this effort to keep our shelves well stocked. Monetary donations can be sent by e-transfer to lhdfoodbank@gmail.com to assist with costs related to our plentiful Christmas hampers. 55 clients are already registered which is a significant increase over 2023. Wishing you all a very food secure Christmas season!
