The United Way Bruce Grey is in its 17th year of providing Back-to-School backpacks for low income families in Bruce and Grey County. The backpacks contain age and gender appropriate quality school supplies. The age categories are primary, intermediate and senior elementary as well as secondary school. The gender categories are girl, boy or gender neutral.
Backpacks can be ordered by calling 2-1-1. Deadline for ordering is August 25, 2022. The backpacks will be available the week before Labour Day weekend.
If you are interested in supporting this program financially or with backpacks or school supplies, refer to the United Way Grey Bruce website for a list of recommended supplies. Items can be dropped off at Staples or the United Way office in Owen Sound (380 9th St. East, Owen Sound).
Only new backpacks are accepted and distributed. If you have gently used backpacks you would like to donate, Safe n Sound Grey Bruce (310 8th Street East, Owen Sound) and the CMHA Grey Bruce (1024 2nd Ave., Owen Sound) will accept these donations.
