Volunteer Bakers Needed for Cookie Walk

The Lion’s Head Hospital Auxiliary (LHHA) devotes a tremendous amount of time fundraising to help keep health care local, but we don’t do it alone. None of our successful fundraising efforts could happen without the support of the wonderful communities of the Northern Bruce Peninsula. We are truly proof of the statement, It Takes a Village.
Due to your generosity the Lion’s Head Hospital Auxiliary was able to write a cheque for $72,000 to Brightshores Health Systems, Lion’s Head. That donation funds a towel warmer, a GlideScope and will contribute to a barrier free shower. These kinds of items are not funded by the provincial government and rely completely on funds raised within the community. One hundred percent of funds raised by LHHA are devoted to keeping our hospital services local.
At our most recent event, the Clothing Drive on September 15, we were overwhelmed when the community dropped off over 10,000 pounds (4,536 kg) of goods. The mountain of bags was so high that trucks scheduled to pick up the donations had to make several trips.
Now that autumnal winds have picked up signalling the arrival of cooler weather, we are planning our winter/Christmas fundraising events – and we can use your help again. We Need Bakers. The annual Cookie Walk has become so popular that we ran out of cookies last year by 10:30. Imagine, a Cookie Walk without COOKIES. What would Santa say? The Cookie Walk is a wonderful way to have some fun ushering in the Christmas/Holiday season. This year’s event happens Saturday, December 7 at Christ Church, 55 Main Street, Lion’s Head. A special bonus is the inclusion of the sale of Holiday Greenery in the same location and the Used Bookstore will also be open that day for your shopping pleasure. How festive.
LHHA is also selling poinsettias this year. The price is $25 dollars and must be ordered in advance. Delivery will occur November 28 and can be picked up between 3:00 and 7:00 p.m. at the arena in Lion’s Head. If you are interested in ordering a poinsettia please speak to a Lion’s Head Auxiliary member. Advance payment is required.
