The Old Schoolhouse Seniors (OSHS) meet at the Royal Canadian Legion Lion’s Head Branch 202 on Highway 6 north of Ferndale. On Tuesday October 29 at 5:00 p.m. the members and guests will have a turkey dinner served with all of the trimmings prepared by Janice Jackson. If interested in attending, call Peter or Janice at 519-793-3589 to RSVP.

There is a special for new memberships and renewals. Join or renew for 2025 for $20.00 and receive your Christmas dinner free. For membership renewal contact Peter for more information.

After October 30, 2024, the OSHS will not meet again until April 2025. The OSHS have been an active group for approximately over 40 years and are members of the United Senior Citizens of Ontario (USCO). The most recent data for the Northern Bruce Peninsula (NBP) is that over 45% of the population is 55+. The provincial average is 19%. Therefore, programs, dinners, lunches, and other events for older adults on the NBP, prevent isolation and loneliness and encourage aging in place with connections with others.

Recently, as shown in the picture, Janice Jackson presented Dr. Brian Taylor, chair of the Board at the Golden Dawn with a donation. The OSHS also presented a donation to be shared with the Ladies Auxiliary and the Branch of the Legion to Richard Smith, President. Another presentation was made to Bob Zavitz who prepared breakfasts, lunches and dinners for the OSHS members for over 20 years. Bob was presented a chef’s apron upon his retirement.
