The last couple of years Christmas sure has been different, however I did decorate the house and now I’m in the middle of taking them all down. My poor house plants have been cramped together for a few weeks while the Xmas stuff was out, so I’m slowly putting them back and they don’t look too sad after all.
The Xmas things are getting put away bit by bit after finding new homes for some of them. Condensing some cardboards and rearranging, taking time to change things up a bit and putting Xmas away for its long winters nap.
Most of the house plants got a good cleaning and some fresh soil mixed in before I tucked them away for the holiday season, so they’re all set to go back to their usual spot in the house. One of my plants was complaining quite loud before the change up for Xmas and is quite pouty now – Chinese Evergreen (Aglaonema) AKA Silver King. I have a couple and they were looking sad. So I cut one back and put it in water. It got slimy right away so I wiped it down, changed the water, washed the jar and put it back in. It now has roots coming; not too long yet, but they are roots and they’re looking healthy. The stem I cut them from still looks ok and the end seems to be getting greener. It is very pretty with good variegation; hoping it comes along. So we wait.
Hoping this year things will get a bit more normal. I do think we all will have a new normal though, just not the same.
I saw two cartoon characters on F B talking and wanted to share this:
“Aren’t you terrified of what 2022 might bring? Everything is so messed up.”
“I think 2022 will bring flowers.” “WHY?”
“Because I am planting flowers.”
So let’s all plant flowers.
HAPPY 2022 and HAPPY GARDENING,
Joni
