This month, the Bruce Peninsula Environment group (BPEG) gathered on Wednesday, September 6th at the Anglican Church with the new General Manager of Eat Local Grey Bruce, Steve Kenny, and board member, Chelsea Vieira. In efforts to spread awareness of the local non-profit food cooperative, the two took members on a deep dive into the organization’s mission, value, current operations, as well as, the history of the co-op.
Eat Local is an online marketplace that delivers farm-to-table food to individuals and families all across Grey, Bruce, and Simcoe counties.
In response to being asked how this program serves the community, it was shared that “it is the goal for the organization to empowers its members, both eaters and producers, to participate in a vibrant food culture by supporting one another in their commitment to local food production, ecological practices, healthy eating, and meaningful employment.”

Next month, BPEG is hosting two special guests in an effort to provide a diverse perspective on our local fish populations, from a cultural and historical standpoint, as well as, to shed light on current practices surrounding both the native and non-native species.
