October 04, 2024 – Bruce County has prepared a draft new Official Plan that will guide growth in the County to 2046.

The draft plan reflects the results of a broad engagement project called Bruce GPS, current provincial direction, and the Bruce County context.

There are many ways to learn more and engage on the Draft New Bruce County Official Plan!

These include:

Exploring the interactive map of the draft New Official Plan schedules, showing proposed land use designations (such as Agriculture and Rural), resources, constraints, and the Natural Environment System, and a slider tool that allows comparison to the current Official Plan.

• Reading the Draft New Official Plan. Digital copies are available at https://www.planthebruce.ca/official-plan and paper copies are available in the reference section of any Bruce County library branch, the bookmobile, or at the regional planning office (30 Park St. Walkerton, 268 Berford St. Wiarton, or 1243 MacKenzie Rd. Port Elgin.)

Completing a survey that offers questions and opportunities to identify areas of interest, concerns, and ideas for improvement.

Booking a one-on-one meeting with County Staff

• Registering for project updates at www.planthebruce.ca

The Official Plan is an important document that guides where and how our communities grow. Public comments will help to refine the plan before it is presented to the County Council for adoption later this year.
