Earlier this month the Lion’s Head & District Food Bank received non-perishable food items donated by the students and staff of BPDS. There were so many donations that a large pickup bed was filled with boxes! Thank you to Scot Roberts for donating his truck and transporting the goods to The Revival Centre, where the food bank is located.

The Food Bank appreciates all donations of food items or money. The shelves are very well stocked at present but we know by September there will be lots of empty spaces. The need for hampers is on the rise … 97 monthly hampers were distributed in 2018 and 122 were distributed in 2019.

So many monetary donations came in over the Christmas season from our local service clubs, including the Lions Club, the Lioness Club, the Rotary Club, The RCL Branch 202 as well as the Ladies Auxiliary of the RCL Branch 202, Members of the Lion’s Head Hospital Auxiliary, Pike Bay United Church, Lion’s Head Market Musicians, OPP Auxiliary who also organised the Pack the Cruiser event at Hellyer’s Foodland in Lions’ Head, Christ Church in Lion’s Head, Spirit Singers, Saturday Lunch Bunch at the United Church in Lion’s Head, Pike Bay Community Association, The Mens’ Breakfast in Tobermory as well as The Ladies of Lion’s Head.

Several business and personal donations were made as well. Thank you so much for your generosity. The donation box at Hellyer’s was constantly full through the month of December and items are still appearing, so thank you to all the anonymous donors of food items.
