Yes! This is the year we finally have new curling stones on all 5 sheets of ice. Last season we had two sheets with new rocks and curling was so much more enjoyable, faster and more accurate on those two sheets. This past summer we drove the remaining 48 chipped and dented old rocks to Canada Curling Stone at Komoka, Ont, near London, and traded them in for new rocks. We are excited to get curling with the new rocks and see what they can do.

Learn to Curl night will be October 21st at 7pm at the Lion’s Head Arena. We will have experienced instructors ready to explain everything curling and give you a chance to try it out. This is a free event open to anyone interested in seeing why curling is so much fun.

The following Monday night, October 28, will be the start of the first draw that runs for 4 weeks, then the teams are shuffled and the second draw starts November 25th. Draws 3 and 4 run from January through to March. Fees are $65.00 for a draw ($30 for students) or $240.00 for the season. There may be a 4pm draw as well as the 7pm if we have enough curlers to support that.

There is no need to purchase equipment as the club has brooms, sliders and grippers available for use. We also have curling sticks for anyone who wants to curl but is unable to bend down that far anymore!

We plan to have three Saturday bonspiels again this year, November 9, January 11 and February 8. A bonspiel includes 2 games, lunch, prizes, a bar and snacks and a lot of fun.

We hope to see you at Learn to Curl!
