After 45 years, owners of The Sweet Shop & Tobermory Sweets have decided it’s time to sell.
“None of us are getting any younger, and we feel now is a good time to pass the baton to someone who will bring fresh ideas and energy to what’s become an institution in Tobermory.” said owner Mike Goman, on behalf of himself and his partner, Dr. George Harpur, and Helen McFarlane, The Sweet Shop’s General Manager for more than 20 years.
“It was a great run, with many great memories. It is particularly satisfying to reminisce with the generations of customers about their first visits.
We are grateful for all the staff that we’ve had the privilege of working with and who contributed to the success of The Sweet Shop for all these years.”
Retail and wholesale operations are expected to continue through Thanksgiving, after which they will shut down until next season. “We expect to have everything in the hands of new ownership in time for the 2025 season”, said Goman.
