The Chi-Cheemaun Festival Weekend Ball Tournament was back in full force and with the 50th anniversary festivities taking place – it was a huge weekend for the entire community! The ball tournament was full with 17 teams and the weekend was full with fun and entertainment for everyone! Tobermory Primary Place (TPP) child care center was busy in the food booth for 3 full days serving up well over one thousand burgers!

Thanks to our dedicated Board of Directors, parents and family members from TPP, and the amazing support of our community volunteers, the food booth was run from Friday evening right through until Sunday evening. On top of this, our volunteers worked hard to do lots of prep on Thursday to make sure everything was set for opening.

Peacock’s Foodland was a huge support for our weekend, reaching out to vendors to help keep our costs down, as well as ensuring we had all the supplies we needed to make it through. Big thanks to Ricky Peacock and Chad Peacock who worked with TPP consistently throughout the weekend to make sure that we had everything needed on site.

Thank you to the Crowsnest who offered us the use of their space and electric slicers to make our prepping easy and quick on Thursday evening!

In addition to just over $9,000 raised at the burger booth, which included a donation from the winning team, Tobermory Primary Place ran their first Chi Cheemaun Festival Raffle – selling tickets for the chance to win some summertime prizes and that raised another $2,300! Congratulations to our winners – Jan MacDonald and Dave Hennings! Our raffle prizes were generously donated by Shipwreck Lees, Tacomory, Katie & Marty Oblak, Escarpment Heights, Sadie Elliott, Tobermory Trading Post, and Laura Stevenson RMT.

We would like to thank everyone who came out to eat, drink and watch baseball over the weekend. We are incredibly thankful and so very fortunate to have such a supportive community. We also want to say a HUGE thank you to the Chi Cheemaun Festival Committee for including us in the weekend festival plans – we always look forward to this weekend and the lead up for it. Being part of the 50th anniversary weekend is something that we at TPP are very proud of.
