More Litter Ambassadors are Needed!

Submitted by Keep The Bruce Clean & Green (KTBC&G)

Is there an area you walk and can occasionally pick up litter, as you go? Join our team of over 30 individual or group Litter Ambassadors! We are proud to say that thanks to Jessica Rice a teacher at Bruce Peninsula District School (BPDS), we have four new Litter Ambassadors in Lion’s Head! We supply pick up tools, gloves, compostable bags and you will look great wearing a KTBC&G t-shirt!

On June 8th & 9th KTBC&G is supporting the Friends of Bruce District Parks 40th anniversary celebration by giving a KTBC&G souvenir pencil to all the kids taking part in the Friends scavenger hunt on Flowerpot Island. Our display board will be in full view. As well, our Green Tomato Cages will be available for their use!

Our GREEN TOMATO CAGE 2024 BLITZ starts Friday, June 14th during the Chi-Cheemaun festival weekend. We have green compostable bags (thanks to Parks Canada) to give to you! It’s so easy, secure the bag to a tomato cage, place it out front of your residence or business, and watch the garbage collect in the bag (rather than finding it tossed along the roadside). Replace the bags as required. It is surprising how much garbage gets collected that way! We do this every long weekend until Thanksgiving. We also strategically place containers around the town.

Visitors do notice them – if we care, others will care!

SCRUB THE TUB – LAND & LAKE will take place on June 13th at 3:00pm in Little Tub Harbour. Keep an eye out for the poster. Email info@diversden.ca for lake support and keepthebruceclean@gmail.com for land support.

Hey, that is also the day we are providing a pizza lunch to our Litter Ambassadors at St. Edmunds Public School! How can we do that? Well, it is because of RETURNABLES, thanks to you! Once again, we are collecting beer, wine and liquor bottles at the harbour and at 182 Cape Hurd Rd. in Tobermory. The money collected is donated to local groups for being Liter Ambassadors and other groups who reduce, reuse and/or recycle! At the bottle return, we are giving out FREE KTBC&G pencils, as a small “thank you” for your support!

Please contact us at keepthebruceclean@gmail.com if you have any questions, suggestions, ideas, or require any of the above mentioned supplies.
