The snow may still be on its way out, but Tobermory United is getting ready to host its Spring Chicken BBQ on May 13th. The chicken BBQ is a Tobermory tradition, and the drive-through meal includes a half chicken, baked potato, coleslaw, roll, butter and dessert. A vegetarian option is also available. Dinners can be picked up at Tobermory United at 5 Brock St. between 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. on May 13th, and there is also an option for delivery to Lion’s Head. Tickets are $25.00 and are available by e-mailing tucbbqtickets@outlook.com or by calling 519-851-3411, 519-803-2483 or, for dinners delivered to Lion’s Head, call 519-793-3119. Volunteers are always welcome! Call the church at 519-596-2394.

Tobermory United celebrated Easter in a bold, bright and beautiful way. Gigantic fabric flowers were purchased to create an “Aha!” moment as folks entered the sanctuary on Easter morning, a complement to many potted spring flowers. Those gathered also participated in the “flowering of the cross,” a tradition that goes back to the sixth century. So many flowers and so much beauty!

Don’t forget the “To the Tub with Love” community supper April 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Tobermory Community Centre hosted by Tobermory Community Outreach and supported by the four Tobermory churches. All are welcome to this free ham supper (with vegetarian option).

Tobermory United is also excited to present “Jeff Bird plays the music of Hildegard von Bingen” on April 18 at 4:00 p.m. This concert presents the quietly stirring arrangements of multi-instrumentalist composer and producer Jeff Bird as he interprets the music of the twelfth-century mystic Hildegard von Bingen. Donations will be welcomed at the door and a Q and A and reception will follow the concert. For more information, check out tobermoryunited.ca
