Keep The Bruce Clean and Green (KTBC&G) wishes everyone a very Happy Earth Day! Please mark April 22nd in your calendars!
How can you celebrate such an important date?
Why not choose to:
-Learn something about an initiative called “Canada Reduces”, google the title and see if you think Tobermory and Lion’s Head should follow the lead. Let us know your thoughts.
-Initiate a conversation with your neighbours to see if you have what it takes to be Litter Ambassadors? All you have to do is: Just pick up litter on your own time and place! Free “Welcome Aboard” gifts are yours for those willing to help out (while supplies last)! Just email us at keepthebruceclean@gmail.com and we’ll add you to the group!
-Test your commitment to Mother Earth, by repurposing something so it doesn’t go to our over taxed landfill sites.
-Try to reduce your weekly garbage. We all know the routine ideas like composting, recycling etc. BUT have you thought of boycotting products that are packaged excessively! As an example, Earth Breeze Eco Laundry sheets can eliminate a large plastic tub from ending up in a landfill site. If you have an outdated weigh scale, drop your green bag on it and track the weekly weights. If you take your garbage to the landfill sites, track the weight of your vehicle, hopefully it reduces.
-Enjoy your personal surroundings and talk to people about how we can all make a decision, to do better. Knowledge is everything, you’d be surprised how many people need bear proof containers explained to them, why we have them or how to open them?
-Remember the importance of working together for a common goal.
Keep The Bruce Clean and Green! The first letter, in the first words, of the six statements above spells… LITTER!
Together we can and will continue to make a big difference as we all try and reduce litter!
Bottle Return Reopens April 27th
Our bottle return will start up again on Saturday, April 27th, the week of Earth Day!
182 Cape Hurd Road Tobermory. All containers must be free of liquid and please no nasty cigarette butts in the cans or bottles! The Cunliffes do this messy job because “they care”!
Remember, If you have a big load or can’t get to us, we’ll come to you. Just call 519-596-2649. We have a free KTBC&G pencil as a thank you gift to you for choosing us!
Signs advertising the importance of a “Litter Free” area, is one of our goals this year. Thanks to the Municipality for their understanding and support of this initiative.
We have also been asked by B&Bs to help spread the words like:
• “Stash your trash correctly!”, or
• “C’mon man, don’t leave your butts behind!” or even
• “If your dog poops, you must scoop! EVEN IF NO ONE SEES YOU.”
