Well, 2024 has been off to an interesting start, with storms and highway closures, followed by spring like temperatures and rain. Thankfully, there has been activity at the branch to keep us entertained through all kinds of weather and February is looking like it will be no different.
Speaking of weather, as we mentioned in the last press, we are in need of a new roof. Quotes are being looked at and the plan is to have a new roof installed in the spring, which of course means fundraising! Currently there is a donation box at the branch that will be on display during branch operating hours and during events where all are invited to drop a few dollars (or more) into it. We are also accepting online donations via e-transfer at donate@tobermorylegion.org . Just add in the notes that it is for the roof so that the funds get allocated to that cost. You can even set up a recurring monthly donation as well, for example $10 per month, it all adds up!
On February 10th, come out for some “Country Luvin” – our Valentines themed country dance! We will once again have line dancing lessons starting at 7:30 and at 9pm DJ Maxx will take over the music and have us all showing off our moves until the wee hours! (well, midnight to be honest). Entry is by donation. Funds raised at this event will go towards the new roof project.
Kansas City vs. San Francisco. Who’s ready for the Super Bowl?! What’s better than watching the game on an 85 inch TV? Watching it with friends of course. The bar will be open from 6pm throughout the game and we will have snacks available and we can all cheer on our favourite team together. Or just hang out and enjoy comradeship until the halftime show. However you Super Bowl, we are here for you!
At the time of printing, the first paint and sip night will have already taken place and plans are already in the works for another one on February 18th as the response has been so favourable, so keep an eye out on our social media feeds for details on who is leading the class, what the selected picture will be and how to register.
The next General meeting is on Tuesday February 13th at 8pm and all are welcomed and encouraged to attend. Have questions? Ideas for the branch? Come out to the meeting!

We want to thank all members who renewed in the Early Bird Campaign for 2024. We had a successful campaign by achieving 98% renewal and retention.
Don’t forget, the legion still hosts darts on Thursdays at 7:30pm, the meat draw on Saturdays at 4:30pm and every Monday the Ladies Auxiliary hosts Bingo at the Tobermory Community Centre at 1pm. Money raised from all of these events support the work of the branch and this community, so come on out and join the fun!
