“See Ya in the Spring, Garden”
Submitted by Joan Regan
The trees are losing their beautiful colours, the garden is slowly shutting down. Sad to see, however they sure put on a beautiful show this gardening season, with all the rain they were all so happy and some actually came back that I have not seen for awhile.
Every Fall I would cut back the gardens, dumping everything in the composters and covering the gardens with mulch. Now that 1943 is catching up to me a bit, I am looking for easy, so come Fall I simply walk away. The knick knack thingies all come in for the Winter and then it’s “see ya in the Spring”.
A few extra small pots will get huddled together, but the rest all stay put. So much easier for this old Gal and actually not too much mess to clean up come Spring.
Last year I attacked the larger shed (first time) and wow what a difference. So much room now that there is some form of organisation. Worked on it a bit more this year and hoping to get some of the long handled tools in there as well. It was so easy this past Spring when I needed something and could find it right away. Now if I could only find where I put my other fan rake.
I picked up some beautiful Begonias at the new Peacocks store in the Spring and they still look beautiful. They sure put on a show and they are bright red pops of colour in the Garden still. Nope, nothing is getting cut back. Probably not too many garden walks and it will be “see ya in the Spring garden”. My house plants are smiling now. So happy to have Mom back full time.
Happy Gardening,
Joni
