In the Bruce Men’s Shed Mission Statement, one of our objectives is to “improve members’ physical and mental health through activities men will actually join”. To that end we have planned a number of fall hikes. The next two are:

-Wednesday November 8 – Burnt Point Loop Side Trail at Bruce Peninsula National Park,

-Wednesday November 15 – Cape Chin South Main and Connector Side Trail Loop Hike.

Contact us for more details.

In October our “Monday Coffee Mornings” at the Lion’s Head Legion became a regular event, where members come out for coffee, darts, and fellowship. We are there Monday mornings 9:00 to 11:30 am, so please stop in and say hello.

At a recent meeting, retired geologist Peter Hubacheck gave an excellent overview of the formation of the Bruce Peninsula, which sits on the shores of the Michigan basin. The strata we see here at the surface continue far below Lake Huron. His travels across Canada visiting gold mines and numerous others, helicopter delivery to tops of ridges to be able to record the strata there, was very interesting to hear.

We will soon be announcing dates for anyone interested in building scale models. Yes, these are the plastic kits that you cut the parts from a runner and glue them together. We will provide help for novices and the tools needed. For the more advanced we will be showing various techniques such as airbrush painting, how to apply decals without wrinkles and the use of low viscosity glue, acrylic paints and more. Stay tuned!

Monthly Meeting Date: Saturday November 25th rather than the third Saturday of the month. Doors open at 8:30 am for tea, coffee and homemade snacks. Meetings run from 9:00 to 11:00 am. Member speaker Lawrence will be giving a talk about radon gas on the Bruce.

Various projects, events, and activities will/may be held on other dates outside the regularly scheduled monthly meeting dates.
