If you have been walking through the walkway between the front of the Legion and the back, we hope you have taken notice of the recent work done by a number of legion members who volunteered their time and talents to landscape the side garden, weeding, planting hostas and generally making it all look beautiful! Thank you to all who came out!
If you have gardening skills, or are just looking for ways to help support the legion, let us know! We can always use extra hands throughout the summer.
Speaking of summer…
At the time of this writing we are in the midst of a heatwave, and we know that many of you do not have air conditioning. Well, guess what!? Branch 290 does! So if you are feeling the heat, please know that you can stop in, no need to make a purchase to cool off during our operating hours.
Saturday Meat draws are ongoing throughout the summer and are a great way to meet up with friends, and if you’re lucky, win dinner for two that night! Meat draw starts at 4:30pm every Saturday afternoon.
Also a reminder that Bingo is now in full swing on Wednesday evenings at the Tobermory Community Centre put on by the Ladies Auxiliary. Doors open at 6:30pm and Bingo starts at 7:15pm, come on out and try your luck!
We are very excited to announce that our next Saturday night at the legion on July 22nd will be a Pride themed event from 9:00pm to 1:00am! There was simply no time to get everything together during the normal Pride month in June, but we didn’t want to let that stop us! There of course will be rainbows, dancing and so much fun! Keep an eye on the branch facebook page for details as they continue to unfold for this event. As always, this is a 19+ event. No I.D., No entry! There is a cover charge of $5 for entry for members and $10 for non-members. Please bring your valid membership card with you to pay $5. We hope to see you all there for a night of dancing and fun!
