In the spirit of giving, the Bruce Peninsula District Schol (BPDS) Secondary Student Council organized a food drive for both elementary and secondary students to participate in as an important community initiative. In total, the BPDS students collected 700 non-perishable items which they donated to the Lion’s Head and District Food Bank.

The elementary and secondary classes who brought in the most items were given a special treat to enjoy after the event.

Lillie Dowd, a student in the grade 10 Careers class, was a great help to the Student Council Executive members as she volunteered her time to help count and box up all the donated items.

In addition, Secondary Student Council also collected $200 in cash during our Toonies for Turkeys coin collection, which was then matched dollar for dollar by student council funds. The result was a $400 cheque presented by Chloe Cameron, Student Council President, to Darlene Myles in support of the Food Bank hampers!

Thank you to everyone who supported this important annual event. We are very fortunate to live in such a generous and thoughtful community!
