Mid-Summer at The Bury Rd Garden
Submitted by Joan Regan
It has been beautiful gardening weather, BUT oh those mosquitos.
I’m slowly (emphasis on slowly) getting the mulch that I got from POD spread on the paths. It is quite a bit finer than the chips that are there now, so they are getting raked with the hard rake as well to blend them. Cleaning up the gardens and tightening them up, adding the mulch as I go to the paths – looking so much better.
Happy, Happy Gardens this year; everything is doing so well. Mother Nature’s hose seems to make the gardens so much happier.
I have a garden out the front that I’m having an issue getting at (nothing to do with the year I was born… nope nothing). So, I gave Cheri Janknegt @ And Rod a call and she came over and worked her wonders. Looks real pretty now, the way it used to. Thanks guys.
I got a few more Hostas. Ya, I needed them. I have found a great supplier online, “Hosta Full On”, two days and they arrive. I wanted a couple of real showy ones and Dawn had them, “Whirlwind” and “Pocket Full Of Sunshine”.Their new home is on the back patio in bright red pots .
Hoping the big black furry guys that have been around leave them alone. They sure like to dump out the composters. I added more shredded paper to the compost when I make each deposit and so far so good. Our new pup Cove sure lets us know when they are around though. WOW – can’t believe that voice comes out of her.
Loving the look of the sunnier garden out back and so do the plants (seeing a couple that have been dormant for some time). So glad my Son Scot talked me into the trimming. Sadly, some of the Spruce trees will be coming down, however the Cedars all look ok.
All the chairs have been in place and tables beside them for my coffee just waiting for me. If only I could get rid of those dive bombers.
Into the Garden I go to lose my mind & find my soul.
Happy Gardening,
Joni
