On June 9th, the Elastik Band played a long awaited, sold out show at Heartwood Hall in downtown Owen Sound. It has been a long time since George, Sharon and Paul have been able to play for a dancing crowd, so they were keenly excited to get back on stage to energize and entertain an audience again. At the same time, they felt compelled to support and celebrate local healthcare workers, so they generously donated the proceeds of their show to Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation. “We wanted our first post-Covid performance to be a message of thanks to the healthcare workers and volunteers who kept us safe and well for the last two and a half years,” said George Burnside of the Elastik Band. He added, “We wanted to express this gratitude through tangible support in the form of a donation to the Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation. The folks who bought tickets and came out Heartwood Hall made this possible. To us, supporting local healthcare with your charity dollar is an obvious first choice and we are so happy the dance was a success.” The Elastik Band presented BPH Foundation a cheque for $1,500.00 at the Wiarton Hospital on June 14.
