The Dog Park at the Tobermory Community Park is covered with snow at the time of writing this article, but as in past years, many dogs and their owners have managed to get through the snow and into the dog park for a winter off-lead play.

This fall you may have noticed a new piece of equipment installed for dog play and agility. It’s called the Canine Castle, made by Canadian company, Barco Products. It was purchased in the fall of 2020 with remaining funds from the volunteer Tobermory Dog Park Committee and a little help from the Municipality of North Bruce. With COVID restrictions, installation was delayed, but this past fall The Meeting Place Board member and volunteer Steve Lindsay put the structure together in quick order and it soon became a new site for dog exploration.

Thanks to all the past volunteers on the Dog Park Committee for fundraising and early construction; special thanks and good memories of friends Ivan and Hugh putting up the fences and designing the gates; Nancy McAfee for her vision of the dog park and donation of the colourful tunnels; the Municipality for taking on the grass cutting, bush whacking and garbage collection.

The Dog Park is a much used recreation facility by residents and visitors alike and improvements continue.
