Lion’s Head has been very, very, very, good this year – Santa is coming to town; three times this December!! There will be his annual Christmas Eve visit, an earlier special visit on December 3 to see the good little boys and girls at the school and day care, and the young at heart residing at the Golden Dawn Retirement Home and the Hayes Seniors Complex. Then Santa is back the following day on December 4 to join in the Lion’s Head community parade.
Strong community participation expected
One of the community organizers, Marydale Ashcroft, felt that the community parade “really needs to happen this year”. The 2020 Christmas parade was cancelled due to COVID-19. Ashcroft says there has been lots of support for this event to take place and she expects to see strong community participation.
Organizers are inviting parade float participants to assemble at the Bruce Peninsula District School (BPDS) between 12:30 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. Their message is “Decorate your wagon, truck, horse or reindeer and meet us at the school at 12:30 p.m. The parade starts at 1:00 p.m.!” No pre-registration is required.
“There will be candy!” says Ashcroft. Tim Hayes has offered money to purchase candy which will be handed out along the parade route, starting at BPDS and heading to Main Street on to Mill Street then to Helen Street and ends back at the school.
The community is invited to line the parade route. The organizers request that everyone practice social distancing along the route and dress appropriately for the weather.
