Mayor McIver called the meeting to order at 9:35 a.m. and Council members were reminded to disclose any pecuniary interest and the general nature thereof that may arise during the course of the meeting.

OTHER BUSINESS
Deputy Mayor Myles read aloud a written statement recommending that the Municipality be shut down immediately noting that emergency businesses are open, visitors are at Parks Canada, open Council Meetings and an office full of staff. She noted that the Federal Government sent staff home with pay and that anyone over the age of 70 or with an underlying health issue should self-isolate. She indicated that it is her opinion that only emergency decisions should be addressed.
Discussion ensued with respect to short term accommodation and Airbnb rentals. Council noted that rentcottage.com has announced its decision to cease operations for a set period of time.

READING OF BY-LAWS

THAT the following listed by-law be given 1st, 2nd and 3rd reading and enacted:
2020-39 BEING A BY-LAW TO CONFIRM THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING OF THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA HELD MONDAY, MARCH 23, 2020. Carried
CLOSED SESSION
Mayor McIver advised that Council was moving into Closed Session pursuant to Section 239(2) of The Municipal Act, 2001, S.O 2001, as amended, for the following reasons: b) personal matters about an identifiable individual including Municipal or local board members, and, d) labour relations or employee negotiations, (Administration Staff, Lion’s Head Marina Staff and Lion’s Head Campground Staff).
Mayor McIver indicated that the Closed Session discussion will include management of the Lion’s Head Camp and Marina and Cheri Hofstrand.
At approximately 9:46 a.m., Deputy Mayor Myles declared a conflict of interest in that the “discussion is about my daughter” and she left the Council Chambers at this time.

Mayor McIver indicated that direction has been provided to staff and the Human Resources lawyer.
